Cocomels donates to U.S. Orphanages

Cocomels Donated Vegan Candies To U.S. Orphanages

Boulder, CO — To kick off the holiday season this year, JJ’s Sweets has donated close to 250 pounds of its popular coconut milk caramels, Cocomels, to eight orphanages, spanning from California to Kentucky.

The Boulder-based company organized the donation after a packaging change resulted in a surplus of product. In the past, such product was typically sold at a discounted rate on the company’s online store, normally generating a notable boost in sales.
In lieu of another successful promo this year, founder and CEO JJ Rademaekers wanted to use the product to give back to a demographic who may have never had an opportunity to try Cocomels.

“Everyone should be able to enjoy high quality, organic treats, like Cocomels. However, we recognize that at this time our products are simply not accessible to everyone,” Rademaekers said. “I couldn’t think of a more deserving group to give these Cocomels to than the staff and children at our partner orphanages.”

Each orphanage received a total of 30 pounds — around 2,000 pieces — of vanilla and original Cocomels.

“We were so appreciative of JJ’s Sweets’ generous donation of Cocomels candy for our kids,” said Missy Fountain, Director of Community Engagement at the Uspiritus Home for Children in Louisville, Kentucky. “They loved the special treat! We’re very happy to have this new partnership with JJ’s Sweets.”

In the months to come, JJ’s Sweets hopes to donate more product to its partner orphanages, as well as other organizations serving children and families in need.
